Riverbend Student Planner
Currently offered at an introductory price!
The Riverbend Press Student Planner is designed particularly with Charlotte Mason students in mind, although the simple, open design would work well for most students. Made with high-quality paper, each Student Planner is 80 pages and will cover one term of work (11 weeks). Sold as a set of three, these planners will support one year of a student’s education.
The Student Planner acts as a logbook for students, helping to support successful weekly meetings with parents and teachers. The layout by day, week, and term, provides students a simple space for organizing their work, helping to foster integrity in the use of time.
The Student Planner provides support to students moving toward or currently doing independent work, and is recommended for students in early middle school through high-school (Forms 2 thru 5). It is also suitable for college students or a parent-and-child pair working together in elementary school (Form 1).
Page 1 - Student’s name and date. Plus, add your term or initials to the “ribbon” wrapping around the cover spine, as a quick reference.
Pages 3–7 - Five Dot Grid Note Pages for planning. Make lists of your literature books and biographies, layout weekly page reading goals for books over the term, create a corner for field trip ideas…five note pages allows plenty of space for planning.
Pages 8–9 - Four Months-at-a-Glance. A two-page spread covering four months to be used to layout the Term calendar. This section is designed for high-level Term planning including the progression of weeks, break weeks, holidays, and exam weeks. Students can also add co-op or TBG days, field trips and outings, and important appointments that affect the week’s work. Pencil seems better than pen here! Use colored pencils to highlight different sections.
Pages 10–75 - The heart of the student planner. There are 11 repeating sections including five days of Daily Plans followed by one, “Week in Review and Weekend Plans” page. The top section of the Daily Plans page is designed for your timetable subjects with lines for logging your work. The bottom section is for planning and logging your afternoon occupation work. There is also a to-do list for important tasks. At the bottom of the page are two boxes for special things from your day — add a favorite line from your reading, a motto to support your work, record some modern language vocabulary, draw a quick picture or diagram, or plan your lunch. There are many options for these sections!
The Week in Review and Weekend Plans page provides a practical section for important notes for your weekly meetings with your parent, teacher, or professor or notes to yourself on important things to add or adjust. Add your weekend plans here, too!
Pages 76–77 - Two Dot grid note pages for reflection. Use these pages to make some notes from the term: “What went well,” “What areas would you like to focus on in Term 2,” or, use it for extra planning space to extend pages 3–7.
Pages 78–79 - Monthly trackers. This section is provided for students who want to work on regular habits or record regular work. Some examples: spending time outside each day, practicing an instrument, completing a regular morning or evening task or routine, writing in a commonplace, practicing additional modern language vocabulary, working in your Book of Centuries, etc. If it is not a daily task, you can box-out your target days using highlighters or colored pencils.
In designing this student planner, Riverbend Press takes inspiration from Mason in that learning to manage our time takes regular thought and effort! This knowledge comes with experience and with repeated effort that grows into regular habits. Students might miss days logging or leave sections unfinished as they learn how to manage their time and log their work — this should be expected as they grow. Turn the page and try again!
Each Student Planner is 6-3/4” x 8-1/2”. The covers feature three different paintings by Polish artist Stanisław Masłowski (1853–1926). Masłowski was a prolific, award-winning painter whose vivid watercolors often portrayed a unique perspective on varying natural landscapes and man-made structures found across Europe. You might like to add our Riverbend Notepad with coordinating Maslowski images.
Note: The daily planner is available in 3 different cover styles. When you purchase a set of 3 you receive one of each cover style. We recommend buying the notebooks in sets of 3 so you have them on hand for each term. A new set of cover syles will be introduced each Spring in order to keep our work fresh!
